It’s the final game of pre-season for the Go Goodwins sponsored Manchester Storm, as the Coventry Blaze visit the Storm Shelter this Wednesday 30th August for a 7:30 pm faceoff.

The Storm and the Blaze are no strangers this pre-season, having faced off last Wednesday at the SkyDome arena. It took a Ryan Dingle penalty shot in overtime to separate the sides after regulation ended 3-3. The first 4 goals of the game all came on the Storm powerplay, Bissonnette, Hammond, and Bakker all taking advantage of the extra man, while Ross Venus scored a shorthanded goal. Vallerand and Pietrus rounded out the scoring in regulation.

Since last week, Coventry have added 6’3” Czech defenceman Vojtech Kloz to finish off their roster. Barring injuries, Coventry should have a full roster after forward Adam Courchaine was expected to fly in last Monday.

Both sides were in pre-season action this weekend, splitting their respective series. Coventry made the short hop to Milton Keynes to take on Patton conference rivals the Lightning, going down 4-3 in overtime on Saturday before winning the return fixture 5-4. Ben Lake picked up a hattrick at the SkyDome, continuing his impressive pre-season form. Storm swapped home victories with Sheffield, Steelers winning 5-4 on Saturday and Manchester winning 4-2 on Sunday in the first game of the season in the Storm Shelter. It was another good performance by the Beca, Bissonnette, Hammond line while Chris. Auger registered 4 goals over the weekend.

During this game, we’ll be saying goodbye to the GM Neil Russell as he moves on to pastures new. Tickets for the game are just £10 for adults & £5 for children, concessions, and students!

One to watch: Ben Lake scored a hattrick at the weekend and was a constant thorn in the side last Wednesday.
