Your Go Goodwins Manchester Storm were on the receiving end of a 5-3 loss this evening, in front of an expectant Storm Shelter crowd, as the Braehead Clan snapped a 6 game losing streak much to the delight of their boisterous traveling fans.

The first period started out perfectly for the Manchester Storm, as within 2 minutes, they led 1-0 when #29  Eric Neilson slotted home. However, things didn’t go as smoothly as that for the remainder of the period, as the Clan pulled level minutes later when Matt Beca, who was exceptional all night long for the Glasgow side, found a way to beat Mike Clemente with a superb goal.

Storm then lost influentual forward Matt Bissonnette to an upper body injury, which kept him out of the remainder of the game & more than likely tom0rrow’s away fixture in Edinburgh.

The visitors then found themselves in front, when again Beca found space and with an inch perfect pass, he found Scott Pitt who slotted past Clemente in the Storm goal. The period though was not over, and Ryan Finnerty’s side added a 3rd goal just before the end of the opening period, with that man again, Matt Beca, getting his 2nd of the night, to give the Clan a 3-1 lead at the end of the opening period.

Into the second period, and the Storm were able to pull a goal back when #81 Patrik Valcak made a fantastic pass to Cody Cartier, who slotted past the Clan goalie with a rocket of a shot, to cut the deficit to one & reignite the fans who were exceptional all night long!

The hotly anticipated third period then saw Matt Beca bag his hat-trick to put the Clan 4-2 ahead, but Storm were not going to lie down, and it was #15 “Super” Mario Trabucco who blasted home whilst on the power play to keep the home side within one. However, with the seconds ticking away, and Clemente pulled to the bench for the extra attacker, Alex Levitt  grabbed an empty net goal for the Clan , and secured the two points for the travelling Glasgow side.

The Storm are on the road tomorrow in Edinburgh, and a vital 2 league points are up for grabs. Then next Sunday (2nd Oct), the arch rivals the Sheffield Steelers are the guests for some hotly anticipated Challenge Cup action at 17.30pm!
