We spoke to British netminder, Adam Long during the off-season about his first full season with Manchester Storm and more.

Ice hockey isn’t the first sport people think of when it comes to the UK. Tell us how you got into playing? What made you want to become a goalie?

AL: I got into playing Ice Hockey with a friend. Me and my brother went to his birthday party which was ice skating. From there we went skating regularly and saw ice hockey advertised on posters. We decided to go and watch a game and from there always wanted to play.

Regarding being a netminder, I have always wanted to be a netminder and was also a goalie in football. It’s never interested me in scoring the goals, I’d rather stop them

What are you looking forward to the most regarding your first full season with the club?

AL: I am looking forward to moving up to Manchester rather than commuting like last season. Its a great city which I am yet to explore, but it also means I am closer to some of my family up in Cheshire. Due to my education, I wasn’t able to train much with the team last year but i’m definitely looking forward to being around a lot more this season.

Finner has given me a great opportunity this year and I’m excited to see what we can do as a team.

What are your personal goals for the 2019/20 season with the Storm?

Al: For me the team is more important than personal goals and i’ll do what it takes to help the team.

Personally I’m looking to build on last season and improve myself as a player. I’m looking forward to working alongside Ginner as I know I will learn a lot from him. Im hoping I can get a bit more ice time this season and prove that I am capable to be called upon when needed.

Do you have any words for Storm fans ahead of the 2019/20 season?

AL: To all the storm fans, I hope you all have a good summer and rest those voices, ready to get the shelter rocking for the new season. You create a good atmosphere and it helps the team massively when it’s needed.
