Hi Storm fans,

I hope everyone is doing well and preparing for a fun Halloween night. I know it’s been a while since my last Coach’s Corner, apologies for that, but I will do my best today to fill you in on all the happenings with our Manchester Storm team!

So far this season we have had some really good performances and some indifferent ones, more so on the road than at home, where form so far has been solid. I suppose if you look across the league, there are random results happening each weekend, there really is a lot of parity in the league this season!

I am really happy with the work ethic of this group that we have here in Manchester this season. It is obvious that our fans love the hard working, emotional, team first type of guys, and we have that in abundance this season.  So far, every player has shown those qualities.

We can see the players wanting to build something really special here in Manchester with the Storm. Creating a new legacy, so to speak. The second year of any new franchise/business, is really important to kick on to the next level, and this team understand that.

The boys are fully aware of the potential with the Storm and want to create a hard working, winning culture that will be installed in this club for many years to come. It is also great to see guys loving life in Manchester when they have a bit of time off. A lot of the players are new to this country, they have all embraced it with open arms, and are always trying to learn and enjoy the UK culture which is great to see.

Additionally, since the start of the season, we have been very actively involved in the community. From school visits to local promotions, we are doing our best to promote the sport of ice hockey and the Manchester Storm all around the area. You, the fans play a huge part in that too, so keep spreading the word about the Storm, and get friends/work colleagues along to games with you! We all know they’ll be hooked in no time, like the rest of you!

Off the ice, we have seen some great events. .  A successful night with “Pink the Rink” and the announcement of Brad Rubachuck coming back in February!! To have another Storm Legend (along with Mike Morin of course) come back for a weekend is exceptional. On the way back yesterday from Edinburgh on the coach, Mike shared a few of his old stories about Brad from back in the old Storm days. Needless to say, the boys are really looking forward to meeting Mr Brad Rubachuk when he gets over here in February! I’m told tickets for the home game that Brad is attending vs the Steelers on Sunday 19th Feb are selling fast, so let’s make sure we have another sell out for that game too!!

Finally, I hope to see you all this Saturday at the Storm Shelter (7pm) when we take on the Nottingham Panthers. The boys will be ready for another battle, let’s make the Shelter as rowdy as we can & let’s go take those two points! #WeAreStorm
