Coach’s Corner – 20/10/15

Hi Storm fans,

I hope everyone is doing well and looking forward to this upcoming weekend.

Our first game in Braehead, we played extremely well for 40 minutes. We were doing the simple things and keeping the opposition to the outside. It was a good road game until the 3rd period. A few times, we were caught out of position and it cost us. As i said after the game, this has to stop. We had a good discussion on Friday and we talked about finding ways and doing the right things to close games in the 3rd period.

On Saturday, we played a very good Coventry team at home. We answered back from Thursday and we had our best 3rd period of the season. The boys were determined and got the job done. We lost Matty Davies midway through the game which left us playing only played 8 forwards, but all the guys did a great job. It was a hard fought game, but one I was relieved to win. Home games, in front of our own crowd, are so important to pick up the wins.

On Sunday, it was a difficult night. I do think as a team we got a bit tired. Though, it is not an excuse. We did have an emotional game on Saturday but we still have to find a way to play a smart road hockey game. I still think we had a few game changing instances against Dundee, but we didn’t take advantage of our chances, which for me as a coach, is frustrating.

It will be another hard week of practice and I hope to see all the fans this Saturday for Pink the rink!! The guys are really looking forward to this, and it’s great to hear we have so many Fife fans making the trip too! So we’re expecting our own great fans to bring the noise this Saturday!! This weekend is massive to continue our good home form but also find a way on Sunday to get a road win against Sheffield.

See you all on Saturday! Bring a friend or a family member to the game, I’ve got a feeling Saturday is going to be a really special night, on and off the ice.

Oh, and don’t forget, if us players can wear pink, you the fans can too!!!!!

Thanks,

Pach
