Your Go Goodwin’s Manchester Storm had to do it the hard way to secure the two points, as they beat the Braehead Clan 2-1 on a bitterly cold evening in Glasgow.

With the Storm short benched due to Davy Phillips & Matty Davies being on GB international duty, icing only 8 forwards and 4 defensemen, Storm, who were looking for their 3rd successive 4 point weekend, came flying out of the traps to continue the previous nights fantastic efforts. Against the run of play, the Braehead Clan were able to knock one past Zane Kalemba in the Storm goal with Ric Jackman putting them ahead just before the 10 minute mark.

Despite this early set back, the Storm pushed hard, and were finally rewarded for their efforts when Luke ‘Speedy’ Salazar tied things up from a beautiful pass by Ricard Birzinsh! This was followed up less than two minutes later when Derek Roehl, returning to his old Glasgow team for the first time since his return to the EIHL, popped number 2 past Chris Holt in the Braehead net.

The second saw end to end hockey once again between the two sides, as they both pushed hard for the next goal. Clan’s chances & performance improved greatly over the second 20 minutes, but Zane Kalemba and the Storm defence were able to keep them from scoring.

The final period was edge of your seat stuff, with action mainly in the Storm end. Kalemba was magnificent, dealing with anything that came his way. Storm held out to take the vital two points in the #PlayOffPush for the club.
