The Go Goodwin’s Manchester Storm team had another exciting day on Monday with global superstar, Justin Bieber, when he asked the squad to head to London and skate at Milton Keynes, home of the MK Lightning (Planet Ice) before his sold out gig at the O2 Arena later that evening. The Storm team were then special guests of Bieber’s at his concert.
Of course, many people will remember the global publicity generated when Bieber came to SilverBlades Altrincham to skate with our Manchester Storm team in late October and the post practice night out with the singing sensation! It’s fair to say the team made a great impression on Bieber, so much so, the team were asked to join him again today in London for a skate before all heading to the O2 Arena!
Storm Captain, Trevor Johnson, who was instrumental in setting up this second meeting with Bieber, had the following to say about the whole experience;
“After the amazing experience the first time skating with JB you never really think that it would happen again. I knew we left a good impression on him and his whole staff after the first meeting. I believe they trusted us and felt comfortable being around the whole team and that’s the reason we have kept the relationship with him.
From the moment I greeted him outside the rink he was excited and wanted to be with the team again. You know when he remembers the guys names it’s more then just another event for him. It’s hard to explain the relationship we have with him but he trust us and we respect his world that he lives in.
The skate was great and he actually stayed the whole hour. Then in usually JB fashion he likes to finish with a shootout. Again JB and his manager generously gave us all tickets to the concert. The show was amazing and the guys obviously enjoyed it immensely.
We were all invited to the tour ending party that was a great night at a private club in London. All in all it was a great chance for us to have a team building event and obviously an experience that not many people would ever dream of doing!”
