Your Go Goodwins Manchester Storm secured their first shutout since re-forming with a convincing 3-0 performance over the Fife Flyers on a cold Sunday evening at the Storm Shelter.

With former Storm player, Matt Sisca, taking to the ice for the Flyers, tensions were bound to be high in this Gardiner conference match.

The first period saw plenty of hard hits coming from both sides, and despite a couple of good efforts from the men from Kirckaldy, it was the Storm who took the lead, when OSC “Player of the Month” Connor Varley blasted home from a “Super” Mario Trabucco pass, to beat Owen in the Flyers net, just before the end of the 7th minute. The period then saw both teams going back and forth, with both net minders having to pull off some cracking saves to keep it a 1 goal game to the Storm.

Goal number 2 for the Storm followed half way through the second period, when Player/Coach Omar Pacha was able to latch onto a Matt Bissonnette pass, to beat Owen, sending most of the Storm Shelter to its feet!

The Flyers came out roaring in the the third period, controlling the play for much of it. Hard hits, and penalties were abundant on both sides, but it was Mike Clemente who was the hero of the hour, pulling off numerous top class saves to keep the Storm 2 goals up. With the clock ticking down, and no other choice on the cards, the Flyers pulled Owen to give them a 5-4 man advantage whilst both teams had a man in the penalty box for roughing. Shot after shot for the Storm kept going wide and called back for icing… until Darian Dziurzynski was able to find the twine, to give the Storm a 3 goal lead, the 2 points, and their first shut out since reforming!
